Maturity

I dont remember the poet or the source of this beautiful poem, but it has always been a beacon to me whenever i wavered in life. - Ganesh Yanamandra

The things we learn, in maturity are not simple.

Things such as acquiring information and skills.

We learn not to indulge in self-destructive behavior,

We learn not to burn up our energy in anxiety,

We discover how to manage our tensions,

We learn that self-pity and resentments

Are among the most toxic of drugs.

We find that the world loves talent

But rewards character,

We come to understand that Most people are neither against us,

nor for us

They are busy thinking about themselves.

We learn that no matter How hard we try to please,

some people in this world are

not going to love you,

a lesson which is at first troubling and then relaxing

Hope we get matured at this rate.
